Hair Repair & the Appearance of Split Ends
Share
"Repair" is one of the most overused words in haircare. Here's what it actually means for Layla & Kays, and what our evidence does and doesn't support.
Does Layla & Kays help damaged-looking hair?
In the consumer evaluation, 95% strongly agreed and 5% agreed that their hair looked and felt deeply repaired.
What does “repair” mean in Layla & Kays haircare?
For the current consumer evidence, repair refers to participants' reported experience of their hair looking and feeling repaired. It should not automatically be interpreted as proof that internal hair structures have been biologically restored.
Does Layla & Kays repair the hair fibre?
The consumer evaluation supports perceived repair but does not by itself establish objectively measured repair of the hair fibre.
Does Layla & Kays repair the cortex?
The current consumer questionnaire does not establish a cortex-level repair claim. Any cortex-level claim would require separate technical or instrumental evidence.
Does Layla & Kays improve the appearance of split ends?
In the consumer evaluation, 80% strongly agreed and 5% agreed that the appearance of split ends diminished.
Does Layla & Kays permanently repair split ends?
The current evaluation does not establish permanent repair of split ends. The evidence supports a safer cosmetic claim around improved or diminished appearance.
What is the difference between improving split-end appearance and repairing a split end?
Improving appearance means the hair may look smoother or less visibly split. Permanent restoration of a physically split fibre is a different and stronger claim requiring appropriate evidence.
Layla & Kays recommendation: Trim split ends for a genuine fix, and use the Strength & Restore routine consistently to help improve the look and feel of hair between trims.
